HOLLYWOOD COMMISSION’S SECOND ANONYMOUS SURVEY FOR ENTERTAINMENT WORKERS EXTENDED TO JANUARY 31, 2023

Hollywood Commission Board Chair, Anita Hill is asking industry partners to remind constituents of the Hollywood Commission survey.

SURVEY

The Hollywood Commission’s focus is to end discrimination, harassment, bullying, and abuse in the entertainment industry. A part of our work together is the anonymous entertainment survey for anyone working in television and film, commercials, live theater, music, broadcast news, talent representation, public relations, gaming, or corporate settings.  The survey is completely anonymous and seeks information relating to discrimination, bullying and other abuse in our industry.

You can find the survey HERE. The survey is open until January 31, 2023.

Hollywood Commission’s Second Anonymous Survey for Entertainment Workers

In 2017, ATA  joined with 25 other major companies, guilds, unions, and agencies to form the Hollywood Commission. The Commission’s focus is end discrimination, harassment, bullying, and abuse in the entertainment industry. The Hollywood Commission is focused on building respect on set and in the broader industry workplace. Everything the commission does is in furtherance of that goal. The organization is chaired by Anita Hill and board members Kathleen Kennedy and Nina Shaw.

In 2019-20, the Hollywood Commission conducted its first survey. The first survey, published in 2020, received responses from 9,630 entertainment workers. Some of the key takeaways were that 65% of respondents didn’t believe that a powerful individual, such as a producer or director, would be held accountable for harassing someone with less power; only 28% of respondents who had experienced an incident of gender harassment, unwanted sexual attention, or sexual coercion reported it to employers because they think “they won’t be believed, nothing will happen, or they’ll be retaliated against.”

The new survey will include expanded demographics to ensure representation across all communities and new questions that measure and assess whether and in what ways people experience colorism; and questions focusing on survivor support and the resources needed for victims of retaliation to get back into the industry.  You can share this information with staff, clients and other industry partners.
