Transition Complete for SAG-AFTRA Commercials Contract

Transition Complete for SAG-AFTRA
Commercials Contract

As a reminder, the 2022 SAG-AFTRA Commercials Contract was ratified in May 2022, but employers could still choose to use the compensation and editing structures of the Traditional Contract through the end of the year. Now, since the Traditional Contract expired on December 31, 2022, employers can no longer produce new commercials under the Traditional Contract’s compensation and editing structures.

This means union performers can now only be hired under the new 2022 Commercials Contract compensation and editing structures for any newly produced or renewed commercials.

If you’re wondering “what does this change mean for me,” we’ve listed a few of the benefits of working under the new contract’s compensation and editing structures:
  • Increased session fees
  • More protections for virtual auditions
  • Diversity experience requirements for hair and makeup on set

To learn more, please visit the Commercials Contracts webpage and listen to the original podcast episode on our SAG-AFTRA podcast channel, which unpacks the great updates to the 2022 Contract compensation and editing structures.
